Privacy Policy

What we collect when you use the site, and why.

Last updated: 20 July 2026

Playdays (playdaysireland@gmail.com) is a family days-out directory for Ireland. This page explains what information we collect when you use the site, and why.

Who we are

Playdays is run by an individual based in Ireland. If you have any questions about this policy or how your information is handled, email playdaysireland@gmail.com.

What we collect, and why

Your location (if you choose to share it)

If you tap "Use my location" or type in a town/address, we use it to work out how far places are from you and sort the list accordingly. This happens in your browser — your location is never sent to us or stored on any server. If you close the site or clear your browser data, it's gone.

Favourites

When you tap the heart on a place, it's saved in your browser only (using a technology called localStorage). We never see or receive your favourites list, and it isn't sent to us. It stays on your device and follows you only if you use the same browser again.

Place reports and suggestions

If you use the "report an issue" or "suggest a place" forms, we collect what you type (for example, the place name, the issue you're describing, or your suggestion) so we can review and act on it. These forms are handled by Netlify Forms, a service provided by our website host, Netlify, Inc. Netlify processes this data on our behalf to deliver submissions to us; see Netlify's own privacy policy for how they handle it. We don't ask for your name or email on these forms unless you choose to include it in the free-text field.

Contact and advertising enquiries

If you email us directly (via the Contact or Advertise here links), we'll have your email address and whatever you write to us. We use this only to reply to you and won't add you to any mailing list or share it with anyone else.

What we don't do

  • We don't use tracking cookies, analytics trackers, or advertising pixels.
  • We don't sell or share your data with third parties for marketing.
  • We don't require you to create an account or give us your name to use the site.

How long we keep information

Form submissions (reports and suggestions) are kept for as long as needed to review and act on them, then deleted periodically. If you email us, we'll keep that email for as long as is reasonable to handle your enquiry, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Since we don't hold accounts or profiles, this mainly applies to form submissions or emails you've sent us — email playdaysireland@gmail.com and we'll sort it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
