Streedagh Beach is an exposed sandy beach, backed by sand dunes. Streedagh Beach has a fixed coastal dune system containing a variety of herbaceous vegetation. The estuary nearby consists of sand flats with areas of salt marsh around the margins, these habitats support a variety of plant species. This beach forms part of a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) known as the Streedagh Point Dunes. The beach forms part of a tombolo formation, joining Conor's Island to Streedagh Point and it is approximately 2.5km in length. Streedagh Beach is classified as achieving Excellent Water Quality in 2024 based on the assessment of bacteriological results for the period 2021 to 2024. Streedagh Beach has achieved an Excellent Water Quality rating for the four consecutive years 2021 to 2024. Annual water quality ratings are generally calculated using monitoring results over a four-year period and are assessed against stringent bacterial limits to protect bather health. Lifeguard: Yes Dogs: A person in charge of a dog on any of this beach shall keep such dog on a leash of fixed length of less than 2 metres, and otherwise under adequate control from 10am each day, throughout the year. Before 10am dogs must be kept under effective control.
