Shelling Hill/Templetown

Templetown beach is a large open gently sloping beach consisting of sand and shingle and facing to the south. The bathing water is located in an area that is backing onto sandy dunes. Templetown beach consists of sand dunes which support a variety of plant species. There is a variety of wildlife located including limpets and crabs. The bathing area is approximately 0.2Km in length however the beach extends beyond the designated bathing area to the west and the east. The beach is gently sloping into the sea. Shelling Hill/Templetown is classified as achieving Excellent Water Quality in 2024 based on the assessment of bacteriological results for the period 2021 to 2024. Shelling Hill/Templetown has achieved an Excellent Water Quality rating for the four consecutive years 2021 to 2024. Annual water quality ratings are generally calculated using monitoring results over a four-year period and are assessed against stringent bacterial limits to protect bather health.
