The Maharees are a beach lovers paradise. This extensive sand spit and associated dune system to the north of Castlegregory village divides Tralee bay on the east from Brandon bay on the west with long golden beaches on both sides. The Brandon bay beaches are open to the north Atlantic and often receive long rolling swells, which can provide excellent surf given suitable wind and tide conditions. Maherabeg beach is a blue flag and has lifeguards during the summer season. Shore Surface: Sandy/Pebbles/Grass. Paddling: Yes. Jumping Or Diving: No. Lifeguard During Summer: Yes.
