Keeldra Lake could be classified as muddy, with a semi-natural riparian zone. This bathing area is approximately 2,000 m² and the principal swimming zone is expected on the shore side of this man-made pier. Keeldra Lough is classified as achieving Excellent Water Quality in 2024 based on the assessment of bacteriological results for the period 2021 to 2024. Keeldra Lough has achieved an Excellent Water Quality rating for the four consecutive years 2021 to 2024. Annual water quality ratings are generally calculated using monitoring results over a four-year period and are assessed against stringent bacterial limits to protect bather health. Lifeguard: No Dogs: Dogs are not permitted during the bathing season (1st June-15th September)

AccessibilityThere is a gentle sloping concrete slipway for users to access to the lake shore. There are no disability accessible points to the lake for bathing. There are a number of steps to navigate to gain entry to the bathing water. A hand rail is in place for support when using the steps for access.
