Glenanair car park is located in the forest property of Ballintlea North in the heart of the Ballyhoura uplands. It sits right on the border between counties Cork and Limerick. This area is famous for its beautiful walks as there is varying topography of rolling farmland, forestry and mountain tops to choose from. The walker is spoilt for choice! Walk: The Canon Sheehan Loop (7km, 2.5 hours, moderate) starts and finishes at the car park. In 1905 he published Glenanaar a novel based on the 1829 conspiracy trials in which Daniel O'Connell successfully defended peasants accused of agrarian crimes. There is a Mass Rock on this loop with masses still celebrated on occasion. Explore nature: The Canon Sheehan Loop crosses the Ogeen river from where there are opportunities to examine the rock pools. Hen harriers also frequent these hills so keep your eyes peeled!
