Cúas Crom Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the Caherciveen area and is well known for great swimming as there are very few currents in the sheltered cove. The beach itself is stony but the water is surprisingly warm and clear. It holds an annual Christmas Day Swim and is located next to several great walking routes along the coast, to Knocknatobar Mountain, Dolus Head, Ballycarbery Castle and House and the amazing and historic stone forts of Cahergal and Leacanabuaile. Cúas Crom is classified as achieving Excellent Water Quality in 2024 based on the assessment of bacteriological results for the period 2021 to 2024. Cúas Crom had a Good Water Quality rating in 2023 and 2022, a Sufficient Water Quality rating in 2021. Annual water quality ratings are generally calculated using monitoring results over a four-year period and are assessed against stringent bacterial limits to protect bather health.
