Bray South Promenade

Beach & coast Wicklow

Checked July 2026

Bray South Beach is a gently sloping, shingle beach which leads onto clear waters with some growth of seaweed. The beach is not overly exposed with Bray headland to the south. The Special Conservation Area of Bray Head and seawaters beneath provide rich habitats for local flora and local fauna. Cormorants, porpoises and dolphins are often seen. Bray South Promenade is classified as achieving Good Water Quality in 2024 based on the assessment of bacteriological results for the period 2021 to 2024. Bray South Promenade achieved a Good Water Quality rating for four consecutive years 2021 to 2024. Annual water quality ratings are generally calculated using monitoring results over a four-year period and are assessed against stringent bacterial limits to protect bather health.
